Ready to Jump Into Summer?

After a cool, rainy Memorial Day weekend, temperatures are finally warming up here in Colorado, flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and the wildlife are on full display.

Remember those last few days of school as a kid, when you were SO ready to be finished with school?! I have great memories of running home that last day of school and jumping gleefully into summer: bike riding all over town, chasing down the ice cream truck, going on family camping trips, catching lightning bugs, and playing games with friends in the backyard late into the evening. What are your favorite memories?

When I spied this red fox in Evergreen, Colorado, it reminded me of those carefree days. The fox may seem like he's playing, but he's really working for his next meal. This series shows him yawning, then alert, on the hunt, and finally making the jump to catch his prey. I was so happy to catch him mid-air in that last shot. He did end up successfully catching a little vole and trotting off with it in the end!

What are your summer plans? I'm planning to spend time in our beautiful Rocky Mountains, exploring, hiking, kayaking, and of course, photographing! I hope you all have a joyful, healthy and carefree start to your summer!

Thank you so much for supporting my artwork and following my journey!
