Since I just saw "Nomadland," I'm posting an image that I feel represents what I felt while watching the film. This was taken on BLM land outside of Capitol Reef National Park in Utah - not another soul for miles. There is solitude here, of course, and so much beauty it takes your breath away. It made me think about the amount of space we have in the West that is really "every man's land," and the connection we have with nature and the environment around us. I am grateful that we have so much protected land in our country and a lot of beautiful breathing space to enjoy.
I personally felt connected to "Nomadland" because we are currently living our own nomad life, traveling from place to place in an RV - not homeless, but "houseless." It is a very different life from what Fern experiences in the film, but I could still relate to certain experiences and emotions.
Have you seen "Nomadland"? If so, what did you think?
